Mission

GLOBALLY, THE MOST PRECIOUS MINERALS ARE MINED BY THE POOREST PEOPLE. 8 years ago, Mallence embarked on the mission to offer a healthier alternative, by raising awareness and showing that we can mine without extorting and destroying our planet and the communities who mine the minerals.

The 4 Cs - Cut, Clarity, Color and Carat - determine the value of a diamond. When dealing with gold, its CARAT determines its value and price.

But how do we determine the TRUE COST at which precious minerals are mined?

What is the cost of a human life? What is the cost of polluted waterways, poisoning while quenching the thirst of communities? What is the cost of destroying the environment? What is the cost of the generational impact of the destruction that conventional mining causes?

To which extent are we CONSCIOUS about the implications the CONSUMPTION of these precious minerals has? What kind of energetic imprint do minerals, that were mined under destructive circumstances, carry? To which degree does the energetic imprint affect the the wearer?

By establishing a blueprint that values the prime resources involved in the mining process -  the Earth, the Water, Humans and Minerals - ETHICAL MINERALS introduces CONSCIOUSNESS as the 5th C, to determine the value of precious minerals, like gold and diamonds.

In a luxury consumer market that is strongly driven by female emotions, as diamonds and gold are primarily gifted as a symbol of love to women, offering a healthier alternative, enables consumers to  make healthier choices, that honor humans and the earth alike.

The conviction, that a more holistic approach, that honors humans and the earth alike will eradicate the exploitation, that mining companies and manufacturers of luxury goods made of precious minerals, tend to hide, gave birth to ETHICAL MINERALS.

Ethos

The womb is our first home. It is a place that sustains and nurtures us unconditionally. Witnessing Mother Earthā€™s womb being raped in the same ways that the feminine is being raped for way to long, compelled Mallence to develop a blueprint that honors humans and the earth alike.  The gaping holes that conventional mining companies recklessly leave behind, causes a plethora of environmental issues that will affect communities for generations to come. Closing the mining pits after the mining process while also abstaining from the use of toxins that pollute our waterways and have fatal effects when entering the food chain, is the foundation of ETHICAL MINERALS blueprint.

Causing no harm is ETHICAL MINERALS primary ethos.

Creating a safe space for the children of mining mothers, has been on the forefront of ETHICAL MINERALSā€™ endeavors.

Giving women the ability to leave their children in a daycare while working in the mines, breaks the cycle of introducing children to the mine at an early age. This will tackle child labor at the very root. Providing children with the opportunity of an education from preschool all the way to primary school, lays the foundation for a different future for generations to come.

  • Women are an integral part of the mining communities and the artisanal mining process, especially the washing of gold. Creating a safe space for the children of mining mothers, has been on the forefront of E T H I C A L M I N E R A L Sā€™ endeavors. • It all begins with the courtesy to leave the spaces we enter in the same condition in which we found it or better. Applying these principles of basic mannerism to mining, obliges us to close each pit after the mining process is completed. As a second step we must refurbish the soil and revive its vegetation in a manner that benefits the environment and the communities that are the custodians of the land.

  • Implementing Green Energy solutions enables the community to water their farms even outside to the raining season with the help of irrigation systems, powered by either wind, hydro or solar. Green Energy solutions furthermore supply remote areas with electricity, which enables simple things, such as studying and reading a book at night.

  • Growing crops on the former mines, provides the community with nutrition. The leaves of the miracle plant Amaranth are a staple in the West African cuisine. The leaves are very rich in antioxidants and minerals, while the seed of the Amaranth plant produces an oil that is very rich in squalene (Omega 3 & 6) and linoleic acid. Its rejuvenating properties make it a highly priced and sought after component in skin and body care products. The production and sales of Amaranth oil and the vegetables, provides the communities with a long term income.

Amaranth can improve soil biological activity and favor beneficial fungi. It can also form associations with nitrogen-fixing bacteria, which increases soil nitrogen.

Amaranth is drought tolerant, which can help enhance soil fertility in drought-prone regions.

  • Amarant is a plant with a large biomass, that stores carbon in the soil, which can help mitigate climate change. It's a C4 photosynthesizer, which means it's very efficient at photosynthesis and can store more carbon than other annual plants.

Mothers and children deserve a safe space
